[A/S] Hi from Seattle

Hello. I have been lurking and posting now and again lately and
thought I would finally get around to a formal post. I have been sort
of shy to jump in as you all seem to know one another so well.
Anyhow. I'm Joan. I bought a 31' Sovereign almost three years ago
and keep it at Long Beach Penninsula in Washington State. I named
her Kalakala II and we call her the Kali Kabin or just Kali for
short. She is my home away from home when I visit my 93 year old mom
who lives just across the road. Kali is in pretty good shabe for an
antique. She needs some cosmetic TLC and a few things are not
working right now, but all and all she is a snug home at the beach.
As soon as the rain lets up and gives me a day of clear skys
andwarmth I need to crawl under her belly and replace the valves for
opening and closing the black and grey water tanks. They were both
very stiff and one afternoon I managed to break both of them in one
swell foop. :-) She has also developed a seam leak on the port side
by my bed and the water system leaks under pressure of the well pump
so I operate the water off of the internal system right now. I have
a notion that the seals on the toilet, original Thetford, just gave
up under the constant pressure of the much more powerful well pump.
We had quite a flood on Thanksgiving of 2003. I looked the
situation over and am not relishing the job. "Sigh" Other than that
and a few cosmetics to the inside she will be very nice. As it is I
seem to find lots of excuses for living with things as they are. Art
projects and photography and reading and bird watching and walking on
the beach looking for floats always seem to take precedence. I have
traveled only twice with her and had the great misfortune to have an
accident the second time. Nothing too serious, I rear ended a fellow
in stop and go traffic when my brakes came undone on one trailer
wheel. All that mass really crunched the back of his Subaru, but the
truck and trailer and all the human bodies were fine. I think the
biggest damage was to my confidence. I haven't had her out since. I
guess I need to get back in the saddle soon or I will get even more
afraid. The insurance agent told me that now that I totaly know how
to pull a trailer and everything is ship shape I shouldn't be
afraid. :-( Well, that's moi. I have loved lurking here and
reading your posts. You sound like you meet a variety of places
across the nation. We intend to take off this summer and try a road
trip if the price of gas doesn't get too high. I have all the
papers for joining the local AirStream club in Seattle. So maybe I
will see some of you on the road.

Happy trails buckaroos.

picture on the photo site of me clowning at the beach in front of
Kali.
