Wally,

Airstream started using the Excella label in 1973 with the Excella 500. The 
500 was the top of the heap. The Excella was a feature package added to the 
Sovereign 31'. They stuck every imaginable feature in that coach.
This continued until 1980 when they introduced the Excella II as a model. It 
was a narrow body coach in 3 lengths.
In 1981 They introduced the Excella Limited in 27&31' lengths
In 1982 They introduced the Excella and the Limited as two separate models. 
The Excella was available in 27-34' lengths and the Limited was available in 
31-34' lengths. This was the year the 34' triple axle was introduced.
In 1984 the 27' Excella was dropped.
The Excella and Limited continued separately in 31 & 34' lengths until 1986 
when the 31' was extended to 32'.
In 1987 the 31' Excella came back.
In 1988 the entire line from 23-34' became Excella models with the Limited 
available only in 34'. Trim levels were defined by Exella 500 or 1000.
In 1989 the 23' length was dropped.
In 1992 the 21' Sovereign was introduced.
During the 1993-95 period the widebody was introduced starting at the 34' 
length. At some points different lengths were available in both widths.
In 1994 the 32' was dropped and a 30' Limited was introduced.
In 1997 the Safari line was introduced with only a 25' length.
From that point it got even more confusing with Bambi's in two sizes at 
different times, first 19' and then 16'. The Safari started changing both 
longer and shorter. Eventually taking over the 19' length from the Bambi label.
In 2001 the Excella label was replaced with Classic. The Limited continued 
for several more years until it became a trim package add-on to the Classic.
