RE: [A/S] New brake controller
Bliepper,
The Prodigy is a hybrid design. It computes trailer braking thru
accelerometers (ie inertia...the more deceleration, the more trailer
braking). To ensure trailer braking as quickly as possible it is
"triggered" by sensing the brakelight circuit (typically activated a
split second before actual braking commences on the tow vehicle). This
also ensures that it can maintain trailer braking even when there is no
longer inertia present. The Prodigy is an excellent design and the
simplest installation as it has no connections other than electrical.
Some just prefer a direct linkage, either mechanical or
pressure-sensing, as the mechanism for activating and controlling
trailer braking.
