I just had both step outriggers replaced on my 1978 28' ambassador.  The 
step outriggers are exposed more to the weather so I think they take more 
of a hit than the other ones.  I had mine done near my home in Ohio by an 
RV place that used to be an Airstream dealer but is not anymore.  They 
ordered the outriggers from Airstream, cut out the old ones, welded in the 
new ones, and put it all back together.  The receipt is in the trailer 
which is in a neighbors barn and I don't remember the exact cost but it 
was a couple of hundred dollars...not as bad as I thought it would be.  
They had to take part of the belly pan off to do the job and that is a good 
time to inspect the other outriggers.  Hope this helps.
