OK, I said I'd post how the new receiver was working out.
First of all, when the old and new parts were laying next
to each other on the floor, the stock receiver looked like
a toy!  The Reese Titan HD is massive.  It looks like the
truck frame would bend before it would.  However, the
hardware (nuts, bolts, plates etc) that came with it were
inferior.  The tech at the RV dealer threw them away
and upgraded (grade 8 bolts for grade 5 etc.)

One additional wrinkle,  the Titan HD is a 2.5" receiver
not 2".  Not a big problem, they make a slide in adapter
for using 2" square drawbars with a 2.5" receiver.
However, they are not a very tight fit.  So there is even
more clunking now than there was before.  B^(
It was the clunking that got my attention, but my real
concern was that the receiver was changing shape
and therefore not made of stern enough stuff.

Sometimes I can feel the drawbar as it moves in the
receiver when I stop or turn.  I don't like that at all!
So I will try shimming the drawbar in the adapter and
the adapter in the receiver.

One additional benefit, the Titan positions the draw-
bar about one inch higher than the stock receiver did.
I have tried 2" drop and 4" drop drawbars with the
Hensley and decided that I needed a 3" drop.  Hensley
doesn't sell a 3" bar.  So I have been using a 4" and
cranking the spring bars up a little tighter.  Now with
the Titan the trailer rides dead level for the first time
since I got the Hensley!

Progress is slow but I don't give up!  Now I'm looking
for shim stock.  B^)
