If you get it right the first time, then every season
(fall and spring) you turn the valve the opposite of
where it was.  I used to make it too hard on myself
trying to figure the directions and what was open or
closed....although at this point in my life I do know
what turning does to the particular valve.  Age does
produce some wisdom.  :)
