    The sliders are not much slicker than the plastic tray that the battery 
sits on.
The advantage to them is that they raise it up enough to clear the lip of 
the hinge to get the battery across it. The strap I fixed was one that was 
originally there, evidently it was a factory item or a very good addition 
that a P/O installed. I assumed it was there in case the battery door ever 
came open in transit and would prevent the battery from tumbling out and 
ripping the cables off.
