Don,
We have a '75 31 Excella.  The previous owners removed the twins and put
in a double bed just as your manual shows.  It is a tight fit but does
work.  I keep our cats' food and water bowls along the farthest side so
I have to be careful stepping over them.  Making up the bed is pretty
easy to do since I can get around the three sides.
