Jim I can appreciate what you are doing to your Airstream.  My first 
airstream was purchased in 99 it was a 32' 74 rear bath.  I did a 
lot of upgrading, new countertop, sink moved 3" more away from the 
outside wall, took out the oven in the wall and installed a 
microwave in its place, removed the old carpet and put in vynil tile 
over a subfloor of 1/4" luann ply.  I really liked how it looked and 
we loved it.  After working on it for 18 months we finally took it 
out for a one week stay.  We were not happy with the single beds set 
up and during the 18 months that we had been working on it we had 
both retired.  Unexpected early out for me and disability for her.  
We decided that we liked the trailer and the people that we had 
met.  I was somewhat concerned about driving a 25 year old trailer 
all over the country.  We decided that if we found a newer 30' we 
would buy it.  Well when we got home from the first trip out we saw 
a 94  34' limited listed in the paper.  Long story short we bought 
it.  I had to go out and find a truck to pull it ended up with a 92 
Dodge Cummins.  We have done some traveling with it, about 12k to 
date but we also use it as a guest cottage when family comes to 
visit.  My daughter uses it as a get away when she can talk her 
husband into keeping the kids for a couple of days.  So its used in 
the back yard as well as on the road.  We have a 30 amp service 
dedicated to it as well as a dump station.  Potable water via hose 
or holding tank.  So it can be a nice place to visit even when we 
are home.
Best wishes to you as a care giver.  We never know what life is 
going to bring our way.  We have plans to go to Florida, and in the 
spring take a Caravan on the "Southwest".  In 2006 we are booked to 
go to Alaska by way of a Caravan.  WBCCI has been a wonderful way 
for us to meet some good and interesting people that we would have 
never met outside the club.  I would like to see more Airstreamers 
join up with their friends and see this beautiful country traveling 
as bands of "silver pop-up toasters" as one trucker called us this 
summer as we were heading to Vermont for the international rally.  
We are really a friendly group and have a lot of Airstream 
experience within our ranks.
