Hi Patti,
I had the same problem with the small fuel tank. I did some looking and came
up with a 45 gallon direct replacement tank from www.transferflow.com for
the diesel short bed GM truck. It is not listed for the 2004 trucks on their
web page, but I sent them an e-mail and found out it is available for the
diesel - but not the gas model. It was about $700 to $800 as I recall, and
it takes the place of your 26 gallon tank, and works like it was the
original tank. I am going to see if I can find a local that will install it
for me, and see what they will charge before I decide to go with it.
