[A/S] Diesel engines and the body

Yes in most cases a diesel will out last a gas engine, but chances 
are the body won't out last the diesel. When you live in a area where 
a lot of salt is used and the weather is rough you have to consider 
these things. Another thing is diesel engines are made to work, not 
to be lugged around town. This is harder on diesels than running them 
hard. I have a 6.2 Chevy diesel and I had a diesel mechanic tell me I 
wasn't running my truck hard enough and I put a lot of highway mile 
on it, but it wasn't getting worked like it should have been, We 
stared doing fleamarkets and I would tow the trailer there every week 
and it made a big difference in how the truck ran and performed. A 
diesel is a whole different kind of animal. It is not unreal anymore 
to get 200,000 miles on gas engine that is well maintained. I do not 
know how old you are, but you said that this will be your last truck 
you will buy, but I don't think that will happen either. There are a 
lot of other things on a vehicle to wear out,not just the engine and 
transmission. If you do decide to go diesel, you might consider 
checking out the Amsoil oil site. A fellow I ran into from Canada had 
a Amsoil oil filter on his Dodge diesel and he said he only change 
oil once a year or every 20 some thousand miles. This is my 2 cents 
worth. Oh, by the way I have 290,000 mile on my 6.2 diesel, but it
