Yes it charges the battery, but is your satellite dish electric or 12volt?  
If it's electric (mine is, I wouldn't stop at Walmart unless I had a little 
generator.  I would be afraid to run the batteries down and not be able to put 
the dish down for travel..... I'm planning on getting one of the cute little 
quiet Hondas or Yamahas before I take off next summer.
