Re: [A/S] Storing in Winter Season
Hi, Janine & Andy...
I put up a steel pole and tarp shelter over my A/S, just to keep the
snow load off it. Were I live I get 3-4 feet of snow over the winter and
I just don't like the idea of it getting into places I can't reach with
my "snow broom". I also found it was becoming a real pain to brush it
off after every snow storm. Now the snow just slides off the trap and I
blow it off the driveway.
You will want to take care of your tires. Dry rot is the biggest problem
and it is caused by parking a rubber tired vehicle with the tires in
contact with concrete, asphalt, dirt, etc. When I park for more than a
couple of weeks, I run my vehicles up on pressure treated 2 x 8's, and
level it on the wood. Let the air pressure down a few pounds. Then drop
the stabilizers, which I also throw a block of wood under so they don't
get buried under a block of ice in the spring. Also a sidewalk tire
treatment with some UV protection for the winter, when the sun isn't
beating down and cooking them. The summer of course cover the tires to
protect them from the UV.
I learned the tire lessons early in life, when I saw the "old timers"
jack their cars up, put them on blocks and drop the pressure.
Hope this helps.
regards...
Jim
