[A/S] Re: dirty fresh water tank
I am in the process of doing the same thing. It is probably algae
build up in the tank, if you haven't used it in a while. I had about
a 1/2 to 3/4 tank of water and I put in a gallon of clorax and left
in in there over night. A few hours would have probably been enough.
I also drove it for a short piece to get it mixed up. I then drained
the tank and filled it back up and drained that out. The airstream
manual for my 85 says to use 1 quart of vinegar for every 5 gallon of
water to remove the bleach smell and taste. I haven't done that yet.
Waiting on the vinegar. After I flushed the tank out with bleach I
had no more black water. I hope this helps. Another thing it says in
the manual is that to keep the water fresh in your tank, keep the
tank full all the time. When I get back from a trip, before I park
the trailer, I fill the tank back up. What happened this time was I
hadn't used the tank since last fall after I winterized it. We went
to Florida, but I never used the water tank. I hope this helps.
