RE: [A/S] handheld cb radio

We bought the Cobra, 38WXST. As memory serves me, I paid about $100 for the
unit. This unit not only is a 40 channel CB, but has a NOAA weather radio
receiver as well. Unit runs on 9, AA batteries (can be disposable or
rechargeable). If rechargeable batteries are installed, they can be
recharged while installed if the optional wall-wart adapter is purchased. (I
use an external charger as it is MUCH faster on my NiMh batteries). The
unit also runs with an included 12V cord, so as to not run down the
batteries while using it on the road. You can also buy a VOX operated
headset that allows for handsfree operation while driving. Having a
portable unit makes a lot more sense to me than a fix unit mounted in either
the trailer or the tow vehicle. BTW, you can use with the rubber antenna or
connect the unit to an external antenna for better in vehicle reception
(something that I have not found necessary.
