Re: [A/S] Pergo flooring?

Stephen,

The previous owner of our A/S had installed vinyl. We floated
inexpensive wood parquet over that -- floated, as in glued the 12x12
parquet squares to each other but not to the floor underneath. Left a
1/4 inch gap all around and used 1/4 round to cover that . The parquet
was pre-finished but I laid on 3 coats of polyurethane after
installation. Looks great, much better than pergo and cheaper, too. Had
a little water at one point in the head (burst pipe). Floor swelled and
numped up a bit. I put a towel over the hump and set my tool box on it.
After drying a couple of days, all was back to normal.

Highly recommend the parquet. My brther just did the same in an SOB RV
and is really pleased with both the look and the relatively easy
install.
