Re: [A/S] Transmission fluid - Heat Death Spiral
Hi Gang,
I know, I know... my tranny is not an Airstrteam but so many use Ford diesels
I wanted to post this one last follow up....
A couple of people here at the campground, who have big diesel pickups, all
suggested I take the truck to a guy nearby in Corinth, NY.
So, I took it to B & A Diesel Performance. From what I could gather they
install engines, trannys, and products like exhaust brakes etc....
The business card says..... Gear vendors, BD engine brake, Powerbreaker,
Diesel Dynamics, Motorhome upgrades & haul trucks.
Bill Lynch. 1-800-662--529.... 518-654-2977.
I told Bill what the deal is between phone calls, his phone literally never
stops....
He said lets put it on the computer and he hooked it up and we went for a
ride... Mr. Toads Wild Ride...... he really pushed the big boy....
The computer showed everything working fine *except* for reverse....
which showed an "OSS 720" error.
He said I do not need a new tranny at all. Reverse isn't *that* bad.... but
he did say when I have the trailer hooked up and I'm backing it up to put the
truck in 4WD low. That makes sense and I'll do it.
He did recommend getting a new torque converter. Says it's not a question if
*if* it'll go, but *when*. He recommends the BD. $1500.00 installed. I said
I'd wait til it goes..... he said when it does it'll take the tranny with it.
I didn't bite.
He also suggested I upgarde to a 26 quart oil pan, to replace the 14 quart
that's in there now...... $325.00. Fortunately he didn't have it in stock, I
might have bitten if he did.
He did have one of his guys put in a thing of Transmission Lube... came out
of a dark red bottle. Says it's real good stuff.
So.... it seems if you have a Ford PSD, the Ford torque converter will go one
day....
If you are up in this area (Saratoga, Lake George) and need your diesel
worked on everyone around here recommends this guy's work.
