Hunter -

That's really weird.  Both the tranies in my Crown Vic , 250K and Excursion 
112k have never had the fluid changed, only topped off.  They are both 
still bright red.

A big Ford Dealer in SC told me never have it serviced as it breaks loose 
little particles from Manufacture.

If you ever service it you must do it religiously to keep it from burning out.

Guess that's what happened to your's.

I'm sorry your having trouble.
