[A/S] Voltmeter
Phyllis,
In addition to the Radio Shack Voltmeter Arnie suggested (about $25), I
often use a long piece of wire with alligator clips on both ends when
tracking down breaks in continuity.
Once when I couldn't find a break in our tv antenna wire (behind the wall),
I connected one alligator clip to the antenna on the roof and dragged the
other end inside to each of the two connections where my tv could be plugged
in.
Low and behold, one of the two connections was good. We used that one for
the tv until I finally found where the other line was not making a good
connection. Sometimes simple techniques solve complex problems.
Eventually, it became obvious I needed a dedicated tool box (two drawer)
(another $20) just for all the electrical "stuff" that I accumulate.
In case you haven't realized it yet, many of us on this list can be really
helpful when it comes to suggestions for spending your money. <grin>
