[A/S] wireless travels??

Hey list -

Llysa in Seattle here, de-lurking momentarily.

Anyone out there have a wireless set up in their computer?? How do you find 
it works?
I have an ibook I am contemplating an airport card, and several of the cities 
we travel through have wireless available. (all starbucks do, for a small 
charge. Here in Seatle, there are OOODLES of free wireless hotspots available..)

But - I wanted to hear from someone who has already trod this path, so as to 
avoid pitfalls, and make some Smart Choices.
