Re: stripped awning mount holes
Tom:
If I read your post correct you have stripped the aluminum on the
trailer which may or may not be on a rib. I have done two different
repairs in this situation. I was beside a rib, not good.
1) My first repair was to use an "ADVEL NUTSERT". You end up with a
nut inside the wall.

2) One pulled out on me so I got a Vetrenarian Syringe and injected
about 30 cc of "Kitty Hair" in the wall. Don't use a needle and you
need to drill out the end of the syringe to enlarge the hole. I did
this in two stages untill the wall was full thickness of Kitty Hair
at that point.
I first stuffed some polyethelene bags in the wall so that I didn't
have to fill the wall 6 feet high. When the wall was solid at that
point I drilled a 3/8" diameter hole and inserted a piece of
Stainless steel tubing that I had tapped to 1/4" NC on the inside.
With 5 minute epoxy I glued the tube in the 3/8" hole.
Two hints:
a) plug the end of the tube with putty to keep from getting epoxy in
the threads.
b) Cut some groves in the tube with a file for the epoxy to grip to.
Here is Kitty Hair:
