Some time ago I bought a 30 Amp Autotransformer on a Ham FleeMarket.
I think it was only $5 .  It sure works well to give a boost. I can 
rase the voltage 40 volts.   But if you don't watch it the voltage 
will get high so you must watch the voltage on the batteries as you 
can cook them.
I mounted the 30 Amp autotransformer so it was in the back closet next 
to the fuse panel.
