Re: [A/S] Autoformer
the problem with these is that the bottom number is set too high for some of the
trailer parks I have been in.
iow, I have seen voltages on the wall plug in meter down to 75 volts. and that
is with a park full of trailers and the transformers in the vault tweaked up as
high as they can go. so, what is needed is a transformer to bring 70VAC up to
about 95VAC and then feed that into an autoformer to bring it up to 110 or
higher. actually, the af is really limited to only 10% increase per their
adverts.
this is sad. In RVN, for use in the old French Villas, we had a large box about
2' on a side with a big reostat and analog meter on the front. you would feed
juice in one side (even 75v) and you could crank it up to push out 110v with
little difficulty. problem was, I doubt that these were more than 20A units.
just do not remember.
also, they were NOT automatic! thus, light bulbs could get burned out quite
often.<G>
