Hi Phyllis,

The cork comes with a layer of sealant on it, and after installtion, tow 
more coats are applied. Cleans like a vinyl floor, and resists water. 
Because it is more resiliant than vinyl, it is actually tougher.

Mine has been getting rave reviews here in tropical VT.
