as I remember, the fridge compressor motor is a brush motor??
anyway, wasn't there a device that reduced the start up voltage draw on certain
appliances as a sort of GREEN effort to save energy back in the late 80s, early
90s??
What did that do?  supposedly it only worked on brush motors.
hmmm, wonder if it would work on an AC unit to reduce the load on a
"inverterator"  <G>
