Re: [A/S] GPS Device - WOW!
Double WOW, actually. I agree completely. I have been using Delorme's
street atlas, map'n'go, and an earlier version of the GPS for years now,
and I don't want to leave home without it. Even when we are just driving
the sedan across country, I remove the setup from the truck and take it
along on a little stand I made for it.
I find it EXTREMELY helpful in navigating around a strange city. I have
explored Chinatowns in Seattle and Vancouver with complete confidence. Also
useful to take shortcuts, sometimes even through residential areas, to make
highway connections.
Those of you who are already using Delorme products can probably get the
GPS for around $99. I received a promo offer a few weeks ago for the small
GPS at that price. One improvement they made with this new one is that you
don't have to supply batteries or external power to it - it gets its power
from the laptop's USB port.
Only hassle is finding a good place for it where the driver can see it, and
supplying permanent power to the laptop. A $28 inverter from Sam's Club works.
OTOH, some people just don't see any need for it, even after buying it -
right, Hunter?
