Re: [A/S] 12 Volt cooler question
I have two or three of these and have always bought them at a Walmart or a
Costco.
you buy it with a "power cord" which allows you to run it off a cigarette
lighter or a 110V converter.
by swapping the polarity, it will heat the contents enough to slow cook a 40 lb
turkey if you let it run long enough and kept the juices drained and out of the
air circulating fan. on the cold side, it will and does, make ice from the
condensate IF you keep the door shut.
there are a few things that will create problems, one is the converter goes bad
and teh other is getting something inside the fan and blocking it.
I use one of these on long trips to keep my "chemo" cool.
sadly, there is no thermostat available. fortunately, anything I put in it can
be frozen if it had to be but usually, by going in and out of it and putting 6
packs of sodas and bags of fruit and so forth, it keeps the temps above
freezing.
btw, I have one Coleman and two Igloos, I like the latter best.
