I think what was meant was wieghing each axle both hooked and unhooked. That info would tell you if your wieght distributing hitch was set correctly So many lbs on the front axle of the tow vehicle, so many lbs on the rear axle of the tow vehicle, and the remainder on the trailer axles. Arnie
