RE: [A/S] CB Recommendations

Patti said, "I too have On Star in my Suburban so I bought a hand-held
CB from Radio
Shack."

I tried to buy a CB from my neighborhood Radio Shack, only to be told
Radio Shack no longer carried CB's, and sure enough he had none in this
Houston store. At the time (2/03), I thought that odd - given that CB
sales probably kept Radio Shack in business at one time. I bought a
Cobra hand-held CB at a friendly & helpful Flying J at I-45N in Houston.
They suggested a magnet-mount antenna that seems to work fine.

Sadly, the only Airstream-related chance I've had to use it (to say
hello to an Airstream couple in a roadside park on Hwy 290 just east of
Austin, TX, as she walked their dog), the sad reply was something like
"Whadda yew want?". I told him I'd thought to offer assistance if he
needed it (his hood was up). I got no reply and I passed him by. There
are too many nice folks in the world to waste my time & good intentions
on grumps.

As others have said here, it is rare (for me) to see an Airstream on the
road, at least in coastal and central Texas hill country.
