[A/S] CB

Hi Jack,

That caravan should be a good one. Have you had a chance to review the list
of caravaners who will be on the trip with you? <grin>

As for which CB to buy, I'd probably buy whichever model was on sale at
Radio Shack, along with the antennas, too. One radio in the tow vehicle and
one radio in the Airstream makes for a convenient setup.

Others on this list can suggest which antenna for your Chevy Avalanche.

As for which antenna on the Airstream, most use the one that has a spring
and clips onto the refrigerator roof vent. I did that with our '77 31' - but
I also bolted the antenna to the roof vent instead of relying on the clip.

The antenna wire was dropped down inside behind the refrigerator and routed
into the interior to where I had installed the radio. A dedicated fused
double wire snaked from a 12 volt battery to the radio.

Having the antenna tip high above the Airstream provided excellent
reception. Also, having a spring mounted antenna meant low hanging tree
limbs were no problem.

As for whether the CB might conflict with OnStar, I have no data. In my
simplistic way of thinking, I'd have only one device activated at a time.

These are mere opinions. It's your call.
