FYI - For two years now I have been running with a pair of golf cart 
batteries safely tucked under the rear fender of the truck, just forward of 
the passenger side wheel. They are wired so that they charge whenever the 
ignition sw is on. I have an inverter under the other side rear fender, 
forward of the wheel, and a dash switch to control it. It feeds a 
conventional 110 outlet on the back of the truck near the trailer hookup as 
well as an outlet inside the cab for charging camcorder batteries, etc. I 
have an unbilical to connect to the trailer and can power up the trailer 
110 system to the tune of about 750 watts. This is enough to quickly charge 
the trailer batteries through the trailer's converter, or run a 
TV+satellite setup. I _THINK_ it would handle a small microwave, but not 
the big one that came in our trailer. All is properly fused,  has emergency 
disconnects,  is protected from road spray, and has been flawless since day 
one.

It was pretty easy to set this up, and it is pretty nice to be able to 
collect a charge in those golf cart batts and then move it into the 
trailer's batteries when I get home from sightseeing. At home, I can 
operate my electric chain saw with it anywhere in the yard.

I am in the process of removing it from the old truck and transferring it 
to the new one this weekend.

Just something to consider for a DIY boondocker.
