Re: [A/S] Stick shift for towing?
Hi, Craig...
I have a some trucker friends, who have gone to the automatics in the
big rigs and they tell me that they a becoming more popular as they
develop.
Oliver Filippi has hit the nail on the head with his post on the "new"
automatics.
The secret to a long lived automatic is regular fluid and filter changes, and
heat management. I always install an additional transmission cooler over
the OEM.
Case in point about how much better the new transmissions are over the
old is my 1991 Mustang. Oil and filter changes every 30K. The car has
260K on it and the transmission shifts as good today as it did when I
bought it new. They call it preventative maintenance for a reason.
regards...
Jim
