Good point.

It's probably becase the customer who buys it doesn't drive it (except for
owner operators) and original cost is a factor.  Also, the production volume
is fairly low and the costs to mate with the various makes of diesel
engines. (However, this should be a non issue, as the transmission controls
are simply a case of reprogramming the computer - no need to bend metal.).

On the other hand, city buses have had automatics for years.  Perhaps driver
fatigue, etc is more of an issue here.

One of these days, some truck or engine maker will come out with an
automatic and blow the doors off its competitors.
