Once you get to the point that the edges start breaking down there's not 
much hope left and it won't be long before the middle goes as well. At 
least this was my experience with an old mattress in the house.

It would require opening up the outer edge of the mattress to put new 
springs in it to bring the edge support back. The cost would probably 
make it a less than practical option and that is assuming that you are 
near a mattress factory that could or would do it for you.

As a stop gap, you could try to wedge up the outer edge of the mattress 
to help with the rolling out sensation, but then the middle might become 
uncomfortable. I have seem the extreme where the person cut open the 
side of the mattress and propped up the edge with wood, not my idea of 
comfort.
