Jack,

Good old Detroit does it again.  Saved a few bucks, and made it harder for
the customer.  This is unfortunate, especially when they had already come up
with a really clean way to offer the wiring.

Having said that, at least what they did provide is workable and does
include the important stuff, namely the wiring from the engine compartment
and underneath the dashboard to the rear.  Also the fuse setup.

As you pointed out, with the budget wiring package it is still pretty simple
to make the connections vs. doing it from scratch.

I guess they take the pickup customer to be a more serious tow vehicle
customer.

I hope your Hydramatic transmission has the "tow/haul" mode switch.  (A
button in the end of the shift lever which, when engaged, changes the shift
points of the transmission (both up and down)  to accomodate the heavier
load.

My pickup's transmission will also automatically go into tow/haul mode by
itself if it starts to run hot.  An indicator light on the instrument panel
tells the driver when he puts the transmission in the tow/haul mode.  Also,
my pickup came with a transmission temperature gauge, another nice touch.
Which makes me feel that Chevrolet (and GM) are taking tow vehicle use
seriously. I have seen both of these features in the Suburbans and shorter
Tahoes.  Haven't checked on the wiring, but they do have the Bargman female
connector installed near the hitch receiver in the rear.
