I once came upon an accident scene where the people
had been taken to the hospital, but a weimaraner
wouldn't let the state trooper catch him.  I started
throwing a stick and he would bring it back to me  - 
gradually I got closer to the patrol car and finally
threw the stick into the back seat, and the  dog got
in. The patrolman assured me that he would make sure
the dog would end up in safe hands, and I assume they
run into that situation often and  do what is right.
