Welcome to the list.  I'm sorry we don't have you name, but I'll try to help.

There are many options available including satellite for your RV.

Cell phones are slow in areas outside major metropolitan areas and 
unreliable in fringe areas.
Generally you'll need a tri-band cell phone to be able to roam
all cell systems available to you.  Many phones advertise they are
capable of  56K speeds but in reality you are at the mercy of the local 
carrier.

You can however do email sucessfully as Hunter has sometimes
managed this list  from her cell phone.  I think she went to cable for better
speed and reliability, not to mention cost.  Cell bills can escalate when 
surfing

Truck stops, some libraries and coffee shops have access.
Kinko's has fast connections for their customers to use,
but they are tough to find on the road.

Some are free and some charge for the service. The speeds
are OK for email but not very good for business purposes in
sending or receiving PDF files and data files.

Many camp grounds today have a 9600 baud or faster connections for email.
As it is shared with the whole park, they usually limit your time on line.

If your looking for business use or travel off expressways, in the boonies 
or visit small cities you may find
the mobile satellite a solution to look at. While not cheap it doesn't 
require the wealth the Lew describes. :>)
