[A/S] Re: "JENNY" once again
As Jim wrote, the older generators ran at a multiple of 3600 rpm to
produce 60 Hertz AC. The new generators create a multi-phase AC
who's engine-speed related frequency isn't important because it's
rectified to DC and then uses sine-wave inverter technology to create
an AC waveform. These generators can use something called an Eco-
Throttle, where the speed is determined by the load. At light loads,
they're almost at idle and VERY quiet. Even with a large load, which
throttles them up to max rpm, they're still pretty quiet.
The Honda EU series use this technology, and also offer the feature
of being able to parallel two of the same model generators for double
the output. The inverters synchronize to each other.
I don't think it gets better than a pair of EU2000s. I love mine.
