Jack,

I have a 1973 Dodge 4WD pickup, camper special, similar to your 1972 
Ford, except that you appear to have only 2WD.  The commonly referred to 
"sway bar" is used on the front axle, and some times on the rear axle, 
to control body sway and I would think that being 2WD your Ford would 
have one.  It is easy to determine, there should be a 3/4" or so round 
steel bar going from one front wheel to the other, as the body leans, 
the bar twists and therefore resists the lean.  (I think that you have 
the Ford Twin IBeam and it may not have the swaybar.)  My truck, being 
4WD, does not have such a bar.  The other sway control which is talked 
about is between the tow vehicle and the trailer to keep the trailer 
inline and not sway from side to side.  This type of sway bar should be 
used when towing, I believe that with the Henlsey hitch the sway bar is 
integral to the hitch.
