If you have horizontal tanks, as I have, they are exempt from the OPD
valve requirement since the rule change in 2001 which included horizontal 
tanks,
Motor Home Tanks and welding tanks. Most wholesalers are up to date
on the rule change but some retailers aren't.

Don't let anyone change them as that will make your tanks dangerous.

I carry a copy of the amended rules just in case.  Never had to use them
but I have had to get management involved when the worker balked at filling
my tanks because they didn't have the triangle shaped knob.

There were several articles in Trailer Life and the Blue Beret about this.
(Arnie - another reason to join WBCCI) A Google Search on the internet
for OPD will give you lot's of info and the rule changes.  You have to read
the whole thing to find it.
