I haven't polished mine yet but thinking about it.
At the International in Rapid City 2002 I me a fellow Vintage member 
with a 30' Soveriegn that polished his a few years back and it took 
him about 40 hours he said, like five 8 hr days. He then waxed it I 
believe.  Annually he repolishes to maintain the shine, but says that 
the annual touchup is no big deal.  Here a few comments that he 
passed on:
1) He did not polish with the Cyclo polisher, too slow to take out 
deeper scratches, he used a whheel made from cotton sort of canvas 
discs, but polished with the circumferance, NOT the face, that leaves 
circular marks.
2)Caution:  Polished trailers can start a fire from reflected light. 
The temperature at Rapid City was 110*F, now you would think if 
anything would start a fire that would.  There were no grass fires 
caused by polished Airstreams and there were a few there.  The fellow 
that had this polished trailer had those Airstream outdoor rugs made 
from blue and white poly twine outside of his trailer.  One of these 
rugs had a hole about 12" long and a couple inches wide that were 
melted by the sun reflected off his A/S.
3)The subject of reflecting in other driver's eyes came up, this can 
be a problem if you are driving with the sun in you back.
