I would like to pass on some of my experiences that may be of use to 
you.
I went through the tire and rim change on my 1959 Tradewind in 1995.  
When I ordered the rims I made sure that the rim hub size fit snug on 
the drum hub.

I have another trailer (not an RV) with tandem Torflex axles.  The 
rims on this trailer are the spoked trailer rims that you see on boat 
trailers.  On this trailer the rim hub is not tight on the drum hub.  
On one trip I had a flat while driving, now with Torflex tandems you 
can't tell that you have a flat, but when you do all of the load on 
that side is now carried by one wheel.  Since the hub is not carrying 
the load, the bolts are.  Bottom line is that this sheared of all of 
the studs and the good wheel "parted company" with the trailer.  I 
now carry a spare set of studs for this trailer.
They are not difficult to change but can be difficult to find in the 
middle of no where.   I also read a post once where this happened on 
an RV and the guy now also carries spare studs.  It may not have been 
on this Forum as I follow several Forums.

If you look at light trucks you will find that the drum hub fits 
tight in the rim.  Back in the 1960's I had a Chev pickup that the 
fit was so tight that when I had a flat I had to "beat" on the back 
of the tire to get it off the drum hub.
