as expressed here and on the VAC list several times already, get rid of the
surge brakes!  they cost too much to maintain and they never really were all
that dependable.  better to install a set of electric brakes !

The banana skins would very likely be fabricated more easily in the UK than over
here, shipped to you, installed and then painted.
With local fabrication, you get exact fitting, and save the HUGE shipping and
VAT charges.
