[A/S] AGM Batteries

Has anyone had any experience with AGM Batteries? 

AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat.   They are popular in the marine 
industry but don't seem to be used in the RV world.  The Camping 
World near me doesn't even stock them.    

AGM batteries require less charging time, low self-discharge (3% per 
month), higher number of possible cycles and need no water.

But, they are twice as expensive.

The less expensive "flooded battery" or wet cell (with lead and acid) 
needs to be replaced every year, it seems.  I am wondering if the AGM 
would be an alternative.
