[A/S] Gooky Regulator (was Furnace)

Speaking of sooty regulators.  My regulator "empty" window is nasty.

It seems to have "oily" black soot on it.

 As I have to bring the trailer to Walt this week to get the new circuit 
board (waiting for satellite positioner) I thought it would be good to have 
an idea why this is happening.
