Oliver,
 The thing I'm thinking of is much more than a bushing, it's a scissors-like
arrangement that replaces the rear spring shackle.The gadget has a rubber
insert that makes the scissors act like a miniature spring, with (I'm
guessing) a couple of inches of travel. At that point, it's collapsed and
the regular springs take over.
