Actually this is good advice.  The one and only time I had that 
problem about  1 1/2 years ago, I powered out too and managed to take 
trailer with me off the board as the whole unit skidded on sand.  I 
had immediate visions of a runaway trailer.

I had to use the emergency brake (pulled the cord)on the trailer to 
finally separate the truck and trailer.  Phew.

Now I am very careful to put my wheel brake on the tires with the 
most traction and also generously lubricate with WD 40 the Hensley 
receiving hole in the hitch box and well as the hitch bar.  That 
helps too.
