My 1979 Airstream has a grey water holding tank built in.  Not sure 
if one would consider that an "older" Airstream since so many much 
older ones are on the road.  I don't really consider it an "older" 
Airstream, but it will reach 25 years old this year, I believe.  That 
would make it eleigible to belong to the V.A.C.  Correct me if I am 
wrong, but once they are in that category, their value holds and may 
even increase, especially if they are in good shape.
I am currently selling that Airstream ($7500) because I have bought 
another only a litlle less  "older" one. (Wife and I couldn't get 
used to sleeping in twin beds).  It's in very nice shape and can be

My wife and I had a 1962 24' Tradewind from 1970-1991.  We used it 
extensively in the 1970's, but built a summer home and used it rarely 
from then on. We traded it to our plumber for work he did on our new 
home in 1991.  It was still solid and had no leaks.  Wish I had kept 
it.  Had no idea at the time that there was such a demand for 
the "old" ones. We retired last year and bought our 1979 and were 
amazed at all the improvements over our previous one (e.g. air 
conditioning, skylights, hot water heater and refrigerator that would 
start without a match.  By the way...I believe my '62 had a grey 
water tank.  I have a photo of my '62 in the photo album on this

I have found the best thing about an Airstream is the comaraderie of 
Airstream owners.  I know I can go pretty much anywhere in the 
country and find a warm welcome.  Now that my wife and I are retired 
we have the time to do all the things with our Airstream we couldn't 
do when we were working.  Every time a new issue of the Blue Beret 
comes out, we look at the list of caravans and rallies like kids 
looking at candy in a candy store.
