Ric, what kind of gas mileage did you get with your 460 Ford pulling the
Spartan? Was it any better than the mileage you mentioned (9.3 MPG) in the
Argosy? I'm not clear why you found the Argosy's mileage amazing. Back in
the early ' 80s I was pulling a ' 73 Sovereign International loaded with
stuff for two adults and two teenage girls with a stock ' 78 Ford E-250
Estate Wagon with the 460 and I got between 8-10 MPG depending on the
terrain and speed I drove. IIRC, 1978 was the first year for mandated
unleaded gas and lots of pollution gear.

I hear about a lot of motorhomes with gas engines getting 4-5 MPG. They must
be 40 footers going up hill.
