We have the same problem on our '78.  Although it
folds up fine it will only catch on one side while
down causing the step to be off level.  I contacted
Jackson Center about it and they thought that an
outrigger might need replaced.  I have not had much
time to really look at it but it seems to me that
perhaps an adjustment could be made (read hammer)to
make it catch again.
